We had a nice Thanksgiving, visiting Pat's mother at the assisted care place where she's staying. It was a nice drive and Angel's Camp is such a cute town compared to some of the Gold Country towns that are so sad and run down and dead. We got there early and I took pictures in a terrific cemetery in Angel's. Gail was in a weird mood, snapping at us because we only brought 6 things of yogurt instead of 20, but she is slowly accepting that she isn't going to be able to get a prosthetic foot & isn't going to be able to walk or drive. That's a big deal, and she's trying to figure out what to do and how to live, and of course we feel sad for her and are trying to help, despite her stubborness & denial about her condition.

The lunch was very very good. I went out to the market and got her balloons refilled with helium & got her more yogurt. When we left she thanked us and told us it means a lot to her - thanking people is not always in her vocabulary. The drive back went smoothly & we were home by 7:30, & our godson and his girlfriend came over & we had a fun visit.

On Saturday we went to Santa Cruz with our friends Wade & Shelley and had dinner on the wharf & stayed at the Surf & Sand Motel. We had a great time just spending time with them. It was sparklingly clear on Friday and raining on Saturday, which was fun too. It's our new post-Thanksgiving tradition and we love it.
