- Hawaii and its Race Problem, William Atherton Du Puy. Written in the wake of the 1931 Massie affair and published by the Government Printing Office in 1932, it describes Hawaii's history, industries, and racial makeup, and seems to conclude that Hawaii doesn't have a race problem. Lots of great pictures and the writing is lovely.
- Bitter Melon: Inside America's Last Rural Chinese Town, Jeff Gillenkirk and James Jotlow
- Stoner, John Williams. Gift from my mom
- Dog On It, Spencer Quinn. Gift from my mom; a mystery from the point of view of a dog.
- Lillian: A Life with Foxes and Scoundrels, Deborah Martinson. Gift from my mom.
- The Complete Crumb Comics vol. 7, Robert Crumb. Gift from my mom to Pat, which he gave me since I'm the Crumb fan in the family. I'm trying to get all of these and actually don't have this one!
- Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal, Christopher Moore. Recommended by one of the Debbies in my life.
- The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus, L. Frank Baum
- Batavia's Graveyard: The True Story of the Mad Heretic Who Led History's Bloodiest Mutiny, Mike Dash. Review on Goodreads made it sound good.
- The Impostor's Daughter, Laurie Sandell. Graphic novel.
- The Tale of One Bad Rat, Bryan Talbot. Graphic novel.
- Pim & Francie, Al Columbia. Very weird cartoons.
- The Movies, Mr. Griffith, and Me, Lillian Gish. Hardbound to replace my paperback. With a signed picture of LG inside!
- Half Broke Horses, Jeanette Walls
- The Swan Thieves, Elizabeth Kostova. I liked The Historian.
