Sep. 5th, 2010 07:05 pmI spent some of my credit at the used bookstore:
- Just So Stories, Kipling (nice hardbound to replace the pb. My dad used to read these to me)
- St Trinian's - The Entire Apalling Business with the complete drawings, Ronald Searle
- The Pillow Book of Sei Sonagon, tran. and edit by Ivan Morris
- Haw! Horrible, Horrible Cartoons, Ivan Brunetti (and he's not kidding. sample: living room with dad, mom, kid, and parrot, with parrot saying "RRAWWK Please don't touch me there, Daddy...RRAWWK It hurts, Daddy, it hurts... RRAWWK It's too big... RRRAWWWK")
- The Dead of the House, Hannah Green
- The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins (so I can talk about it with everybody who's finishing the third one)
- La Dolche Musto, Michael Musto (columns from the Village Voice; I used to love his reviews in Details mag when it was a fashion mag. I wish somebody would reprint those)
- The Ganzfeld #2 arty magazine
- Eloise in Paris, Kay Thompson (I never had these as a kid and decided I would get them - love love love the Hillary Knight illustrations)
- Napa City & County Portfolio & Directory This is the find of the day. It's a city directory from 1908 with photographs of towns in Napa county, including strips of photos of streets showing each business with their owners in front of them. $30 and worth every penny.
