I've been lax about reporting on books I've gotten. I suck. To make up for it, here's a big list of acquisitions from the recent past:

  • The Death Instinct, Jed Rubenfeld, review copy of historical novel based on the Wall Street bombing of 1920
  • Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain, Oliver Sacks
  • Peter Pan: Adapted from the Play by J.M. Barrie, Illustrated by Miss Elliot
  • Gypsy, Kate Seredy (vintage kid's book about a cat by an author I like; I'd never seen it before)
  • Man About Town, William Steig (cartoons)
  • Memory Room, Don Blanding (looks like a book of poetry, from 1945; I got it for the odd black and white illustrations by the author)
  • Stained Glass: Music for the Eye, Hill, Hill, and Halberstadt (hardbound version of a book I've had for years)
  • Candide, Voltaire, illustrated by Rockwell Kent (I have a copy already that was my dads, but this was too nice to pass up. I love Rockwell Kent.)
  • Stone Alone: The Story of a Rock 'n Roll Band, Bill Wyman
  • Thunderball, Ian Fleming (great old 1961 paperback edition that I read in junior high)
  • Important artifacts and personal property from the collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, including books, street fashion, and jewelry, Leanne Shapton (post modern novel in the form of an auction catalog)
  • The best of Lady Churchill's rosebud wristlet, Kelly Link, editor
  • Hellboy: The chained coffin and others, Mike Mignola
  • Hellboy: The Wolves of Saint August, Mike Mignola
  • Hellboy: Seed of destruction, Mike Mignola
  • Hellboy: The right hand of doom, Mike Mignola
  • Hellboy: Conquerer worm, Mike Mignola
  • Dear John: The Alex Toth Doodle Book, Alex Toth
  • Devil in the Details: Scenes from an Obsessive Girlhood, Jennifer Traig
  • Kasey to the Rescue: The Remarkable Story of a Monkey and a Miracle, Ellen Rogers
  • Hawaii Truth Stranger Than Fiction, LaRue Piercy (about the historical background to James Michener's Hawaii)

We're invited to two parties tonight and I think I'm going to skip both of them because I'm getting over a cold. Feeling better but still tired. Pat will have fun without me.
